Installing HTTPS, WordPress and Themify Ultra on Siteground
Last year SiteGround’s new Client Area and Site Tools were launched. New customers started using these interfaces in August 2019 and existing clients are currently being migrated. Having spent years getting used to cPanel I was a little nervous about the change. I didn’t need to be. It is excellent. Today we’re going to have a look at installing HTTPS, Wordpress and Themify Ultra on Siteground.
Built using REACT as a single-page application, the new Client Area is fast and mobile-friendly, allowing you to manage your site and hosting through any device. The Site Tools area, which replaces cPanel, is intuitive and straightforward to use.
I recently installed HTTPS, Wordpress and Themify Ultra on a new client’s account, so I thought I’d create a post showing how I did it. It’s really straightforward. This article assumes you are familiar with the terms discussed.

Sign up for Siteground
Firstly sign up for a Siteground Wordpress hosting account, and log in.
When you first log in you will see a welcome screen. On the top toolbar go to Websites.
On the next page select Site Tools.
This takes you to your website Dashboard.
Point your domain to Siteground
Next you need to point your domain to Siteground. On the Siteground Dashboard you’ll see your nameservers. Go to the site where you bought your domain, locate the nameservers and change them to the ones shown in your Siteground Dashboard.
Note: Give the site 24 hours to propagate or the following may not work.
Install HTTPS for your domain
Next you should install HTTPS for your domain. Using SSL is more than important – it’s absolutely essential for the security of your website.
Select the domain, and then from the dropdown select Let’s Encrypt, which is a free SSL. Click GET.
You’ll then see your HTTPS is installed.
Note, that once you have installed Wordpress there is one more step to complete to ensure your SSL is working correctly. We’ll come to that shortly.
Install Wordpress
Ok now it’s time to install Wordpress.
Go back to the Dashboard, select Wordpress from the left hand menu, and then select Install & Manage.
On the following screen select Wordpress.
Then fill in all the information below:
- Choose your Domain
- Leave the Installation Path as it is
- Select your language
- Untick Install Wordpress Starter (you’re not going to need this since you’re using Themify)
- Fill in username, password, and email
- Leave Install Wordpress Multisite unticked
- Hit Install
That’s it. Wordpress is good to go. You will then see the screen below. Click the Admin Panel button. You’ll automatically be taken to the Wordpress interface for your site.
Log into the Wordpress interface using the credentials you chose.
Finish off the HTTPS setup
Remember we said there’s one more step when setting up HTTPS? Simply select SG Optimizer from the left hand menu. Select ‘Environment Optimization’ and toggle on the Enable HTTPS setting.
That’s that done.
Install Themify Ultra
Ok now go back to Appearance/Themes
Click Add New
Then Upload Theme, then select Themify Ultra zip file from your computer and upload it by selecting Install Now.
Select Activate
That’s it, you’re done. You can now go ahead and select the Skin/Demo you want and build your site.
